Good area to catch up on history of the area and it’s significance thru several wars. Also can fish and launch boats here.
Pretty place, has some picnic areas, but it's a small park. There is a reasonable fee per vehicle, but I was surprised that being a State park holder my pass did not get us in for free with the pass. It says on the sign it's a State park so the pass should had gotten us in free. If it's not a State park, then the sign is not telling the truth. This is the reason for my low grade. Fix this error State of Texas please!
Beautiful, clean and manicured park! Very interesting history and well displayed. Camp host met us and was very pleasant and thanked us for coming. If you love watching port activity its a definite place to catch boats moving in and out. A fascinating view to see their sizes! There were also many fishing and catching here! There is no entrance fee but worth it to give a nice donation at the gate, to keep this historical spot open!
It was just OK. The place was not well maintained. The mosquitoes about carried me away.
Loved fishing off the docks. Kids had a blast. Mosquitoes were a nuisance but great place to stay
Nice area and view, well kept. Some of the sidewalks will accommodate wheelchairs or walkers, most concrete paths are approx 48 inches width. Bring your food and drinks as there's nothing else for miles. There is a public restroom, boat ramp, and picnic tables.
Just camped here for five days in our travel trailer. It was nice, quiet, and very peaceful. Didn’t spend as much time outside as we would have liked, thanks to the record-breaking heat wave. The mosquitoes were plentiful, but that is also to be expected on the Gulf Coast. Would recommend a pool to increase summer campers, but we will for sure be back when it cools off! The staff was GREAT!
To clear up some previous confusion - this is NOT part of the Texas State Park system. It is a Texas Historic Site property. Not the same thing, so do not expect your Texas State Park pass to work here. Entry is only $5/vehicle per day, and full-access RV spaces are only $40/day. And…they have been using the fees charged to work on fixing, and eventually, upgrading things around the park.
This was our first visit to this park and we loved it! The parkgrounds were very clean. Walked around reading about all the history that happened here. One really interesting thing available here, there is a number you can call for a self guided tour of the park. We learned a lot and was very interesting. Definitely coming back for another visit.
